In Florence, just a few steps away from the historic Duomo is the largest Italian museum dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci.
Leonardo's personality has been praised by modern historians and critics, who have often associated him with the figure of a "genius", not by chance he is known throughout the world as one of the greatest geniuses of humanity.
Through commitment, curiosity, and research, he managed to completely revolutionize the scientific approach, giving us inventions that are still used today or are a fundamental inspiration for new projects.
A scientist who is a source of constant inspiration in every field, whose texts reveal new surprises and new projects to analyze.
The various museums dedicated to his works, scattered throughout Italy, collect works, sketches, and preparatory drawings.
The one in Florence, which bears the name of the great inventor “Leonardo da Vinci Museum”, remains the largest in absolute terms.
The structure divided into two levels is characterized by the presence of real reproductions of the machinery designed by Leonardo over the years.
The Museum, inaugurated in 2004, is characterized by constant development, new installations, new rooms, and new proposals, aimed at arousing curiosity and perhaps also bringing the new generations closer to the model of science that Leonardo applied to his works.
The Leonardo da Vinci Museum is housed in the Palazzo Sforza Almeni, a historic building in the city of Florence built according to the design of Bartolomeo Ammannati (16th century).
As anticipated, the structure is divided into two floors, each with different works to observe.
Of the two, the second floor is considered the most interesting one.
Here, in fact, it is possible to visit the interactive exhibition with the presentation of some models of the works created by Leonardo.
Most of the machinery is in working order, and visitors have the opportunity to experience its use first-hand. The journey through the rooms is led by expert guides who describe in great detail the idea behind the model, at the same time allowing the reading of the original pages of Leonardo's diaries, which contain sketches and notes. A real dive into the past and his world to learn about his thoughts in a practical but also fun and fascinating way.
The hope is that Leonardo's passion and his undisputed genius can inspire new generations, encouraging them to create new models of thought that in turn generate new inventions useful to the entire world.
The world needs constant revolutions, and museums are the first place to look for innovative ideas and inspiration.
Also on the second floor, a space dedicated to books has been installed, a bookshop where you can buy international texts on science, art, and architecture – the three great arts studied by Leonardo. The vast selection of the Museum matches the desire to spread culture, with the will to make it accessible to everyone. The Leonardo Museum is open to everyone, from private visitors to school groups. It is possible to book your ticket in advance, by connecting directly to the official website.
