There is no better way to experience the mountains than to take a holiday in the Ötztal Alps. In South Tyrol and North Tyrol, there is this mountain group that contains several protected areas, including the Gruppo di Tessa Nature Park.
The Ötztal Alps can be discovered through the educational path of the imposing Vallelunga glaciers. Walking among the imposing mountain ranges that surround the Stelvio National Park is a unique experience and the Alta Val Venosta is a popular destination for mountaineers from all over the world. Eternal ice awaits lovers of snow sports in the Ortles area, the Venosta Alps, and the Sesvenna Group.
The activities that can be done in the Ötztal Alps are as numerous as the places to see, both natural and artificial, and of great beauty because when people and mountains meet great things can happen.
Lake Resia is famous for its submerged bell tower, an iconic image and symbol of the entire valley, which is a paradise for hikers and fishermen, but also for cyclists, mountain bikers, and surfers. The bell tower is all that remains of the ancient village of Curon, which was submerged by water for the construction of a dam.
Glorenza is also one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, as well as one of the best places to visit in Vinschgau. Walking in this city is a suggestive experience and many directors have chosen it for their film sets.
From the parish of Glorenza, there are also excursions to Mount Glorenza where you reach 2,395 meters through woods, meadows, pastures, and wonderful views.
But the excursion not to be missed is the one that goes to the Alta Via dell'Ortles: it is in fact one of the most famous hiking trails, which winds through the Stelvio National Park around the Ortles Group, the highest mountain in Trentino, South Tyrol.
The abbey of Monte Maria is instead located along the road that leads from Burgusio to Slingia. The abbey is nothing less than the highest Benedictine monastery in Europe with its 1335 meters of altitude, absolutely not to be missed.
Finally, you can stop and admire the Parcines waterfall, the highest in South Tyrol with an altitude difference of over 100 meters, and take a mountain bike trip along the Via Claudia Augusta, which winds along a path of 80 km that goes from Merano to Passo Resia and allows for incredible stops along the way.
