Discovering the Sibillini Mountains Park

The National Park of the Sibillini Mountains is more than just a naturalistic park, it is a collection of emotions and experiences to be tried out. Mystery, magic, culture, and nature blend perfectly to create a protected area between the Marches and Umbria. The Park makes visible the millennial relationship between man and the environment, the peaceful and flourishing coexistence that is based on sustainable interchange.

Let's go to discover the Sibillini Mountains National Park which includes the highest mountain group of the Umbrian-Marche Apennines and whose highest peak, Monte Vettore, reaches 2,479 meters above sea level, while its many municipalities are distributed among Umbria and the Marche. We will discover how you can experience the charm of the past through how man has been able to adapt to a wild but alive and carefully preserved environment in all its beauty.

What to see in the Sibillini National Park

One of the most evocative communes of the Sibillini Park is undoubtedly Visso, founded 900 years before Rome, which recognized it as a free commune. Inside the park, you can visit some very special towns: Norcia, Ussita, Amandola, Castel Sant'Angelo sul Nera, and many other suggestive places, each with characteristics that make them unmissable.

In the Park it is possible to follow different itineraries, even by car, for example, to cross the gorges of the Valnerina, carved by the Nera river, or to admire the dolomitic massif of Monte Bove from the window. Whether by car, bicycle, or camper, you can travel the Grande Via, a 190-kilometer route that allows you to discover lively and incredibly interesting landscapes, even in a few days.

Smaller historical and cultural itineraries through the villages are also included in the main itinerary. The park offers the opportunity to explore various mountain bike trails, but now and then it is worth getting off the bus and taking a walk or hike directly into nature. The hiking trails can be dedicated to nature or be thematic and follow the ancient paths of charcoal burners or shepherds. Here in Sibillini Park, moreover, there is no shortage of opportunities to practice sports such as rafting and canyoning in the gorges of the rivers and then taste the typical products of this land.
