The Marche is an area of great natural, cultural, artistic, historical, culinary, and other riches. The Regional Park of Monte Conero is a real environmental oasis born around Monte Conero, at 572 meters of Mediterranean scrub, which falls in a suggestive way over the sea.
Inside the park, it is possible to walk along 18 different paths, each of which crosses the protected area. At the beginning of each trail, there is a sign indicating the duration and difficulty of the route. Some of these paths can be done independently, while others require the help of expert guides. Mount Conero takes its name from the Komaros, which for the ancient Greeks was the Strawberry Tree and for us the Sea Cherry, that is, a shrub that can be found within the Mediterranean scrub.
The Conero Park allows many to make a very pleasant walk admiring suggestive views, and others to test themselves and enter more difficult paths.
Inside Monte Conero Park, it is possible to enjoy a unique type of landscape: the Mediterranean scrub that overlooks the sea and where many animal species find refuge. Here, the sea and the land meet to form a perfect union: the slopes are covered with mixed woods of evergreen and deciduous sclerophyll on the north-eastern side, while pine woods dominate on the western side. In the autumn, the Corbezzolo is certainly the master, while in the summer the flowers are in bloom. Variety and beauty are just some of the characteristics of the Regional Park.
Several species of birds nest on the cliffs: the peregrine falcon, the kestrel, the cormorant, the blue rock thrush, and the great spotted woodpecker. All these birds can be easily observed, while more shy but always present in this luxuriant area are animals such as the badger, the fox, the weasel, the skunk, and the hedgehog.
You can also admire geological testimonies of great importance, such as the old Massignano quarry, a place of fundamental geological importance, inside the park. During your walk Ancient rock carvings, Roman caves, and Benedictine and Franciscan monasteries can be seen. Finally, do not miss the tasting of the Conero DOC red wine, the delicious honey and oil, all delicacies from the healthy harvest of these natural areas.
