The Park of the Po Delta is one of the most suggestive natural reserves of Emilia Romagna. It is the second largest wetland in Europe, rich in woods, pine forests, typical wetland fauna, freshwater, and brackish valleys, crossed by rivers that flow into the Adriatic Sea. It is an extraordinary area of the Po Delta, which is an illustrious example of biodiversity, due to the presence of water for centuries, which has attracted a diverse fauna that needs to be protected. The Po Delta Park can be visited by choosing itineraries specifically designed to express the beauty of this place, exciting excursions in nature, and also sustainable tourism rides to discover unique naturalistic treasures where water is the absolute protagonist.
The Po Delta Park is a natural treasure where the sky is reflected in the water and seems to have no limits. In 1999 the Park was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and over the years many strategies have been implemented to improve and protect the appearance of the Park and, in particular, to safeguard the well-being and biodiversity of this part of the country. Protecting nature is our job and taking care of such a spectacular place is our responsibility, both as people and as simple tourists.
If you are a passionate photographer, you will find here unique opportunities to take sensational pictures, full of colors and incomparable natural spectacles. You can go for a bike ride or a walk in search of the fossil dunes of Massenzatica, as evidence of the ancient position of an Adriatic coast, dating back to the Bronze Age.
In the summer you can discover the Park by motorboat, choosing the canals and the suggestive reed beds, or you can explore the Park on horseback, for those who want to ride and be in direct contact with the surrounding nature. The Po Delta Park is beautiful all year round and even in the cold seasons it offers the opportunity to take a tour of the towns that the Park itself encompasses, including the beautiful Comacchio, but also Codigoro, Goro, Cervia, Ravenna, and Alfonsine in Ravenna.
Do not forget to visit the Bosco della Mesola Nature Reserve, a wooded area of medieval origin that preserves the memory of ancient forests that reached the Adriatic coast and where it is possible to meet the famous Cervo Della Mesola in its natural habitat. Finally, you can visit Salina di Cervia, to the south of the Park, to take pictures of flamingos and other protected species; or the Comacchio valleys, another humid and marshy area of international importance, rich in water bodies, valleys, canals, pine forests and woods.
